Three Must-Own Video Games
Borderlands: This game has a good feel to it. It plays fluidly and there is plenty of action throughout the game. I haven’t completed it yet, but I’m close (I think). You have four different characters from which to choose so your options aren’t lacking. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. The goal is to find the vault that is said to hold secrets and technology. Of course you come across baddies on the way and you take them out in any fashion you’d like. This RPG, though, is really pretty good. It doesn’t just base itself on the killing. There is some kind of plot and storyline that makes this game worth it alone. It could be translated into a scifi movie (notice I didn’t say Syfy) and do very well.
Halo ODST: The new Halo installment. This game is pretty awesome. If you’re a fan of Halo, then this one will fall right in line. Skeptics were weary of it because you don’t play as Master Chief. You play, dare I say, as humans, but hey, it’s still pretty good. I venture to say this one has more action to it than others. The graphics and CG are far better and the environments play a bigger role in your survival. Definitely one of the best Halo additions. If I were to rank them, it’d be Halo 2, Halo ODST, Halo 1, Halo 3, then Halo Wars.
Uncharted 2: You’re almost playing a movie. This game is pretty awesome. Uncharted 2 follows up a couple years after the first one and your essential mission is to discover what happened to Marco Polo’s mysterious voyage home from China. There are several twists and turns and the game play is simulated so well that it really does suck you in. This is as good as it gets. There’s plenty of action involved in the game and you go through some crazy fast scenes that give you a jolt of adrenaline. Think Indiana Jones mixed with the action and game play of Halo. Pretty intense, fun, quizzical and revolutionary.
