Have No Fear, Battlestar Fans: Caprica, BSG’s Prequel Coming
For Battlestar: Galactica fans, have no fear. The much-anticipated prequel to Battlestar: Galactica is coming on DVD and digital download on April 21st. Caprica will take place approximately 50 years before the events of BSG take place. Esai Morales and Eric Stoltz star as two power hungry individuals who try to take advantage of the artificial intelligence discovery which ultimately leads to AI destruction. Caprica won’t tie up anything from BSG; rather, it is straightforward and there are no strings attached. Preorder is now available but those intending to download must wait until the 21st to do so.
Friday, March 20 will mark the end of Battlestar Galactica
With practically none of my predictions coming true in the nine episodes leading up to the finale, I shouldn’t be writing what I think will happen in the two-hour finale. Instead, I will offer my condolences to the show. The two-hour finale will air on Scifi Channel at 8:00 ET. A Battlestar marathon will take place starting at 8:00 AM ET leading up to the series finale. The finale promises that no extra surprises to extend the show will exist and that it truly will be the end. A sad day for BSG fans, DVD’s of the ultra popular show will come out shortly after the finale. Reruns of the show will continue to air on SciFi Channel and tentative arrangements for the show to be aired on local networks are in the works. Whatever the case may be, BSG did something for Science Fiction, particularly the SciFI Channel by creating a new culture within the genre. Battlestar gave life back into the SciFi channel, and ultimately the station and fans are grateful. Though the show never made it to 100 episodes, it left its impression on society and culture as we see it. Don’t be sad, Battlestar fans. You were treated to something special. Whether you see a return of the classic series or not is yet to be seen. Bid farewell to the series on March 20.
Battlestar Galactica follow-up
So I wasn’t exactly on with a few of my predictions, but there are a couple more that can come true. Battlestar fans are now planning for the future now that Ellen Tigh was revealed as the fifth cylon. Surprising? Kind of, but not really. Just when you thought she was going to be the fifth cylon other things shied away from it. Of course the big giveaway was the fact that she was related to Colonel Saul Tigh who is also a cylon. Of course the reveal of it blows many (including mine) theories in relation to what’s going to happen in the rest of the show. Now that we know who the fifth cylon is, here’s a new prediction on how the show will finish:
Roslin will be revealed as a Cylon that was not mentioned before. I know, I had her down as being the fifth cylon, but she could be plant. She is too mysteriously involved in the affairs of Adama. We’ll see. Happy viewing the rest of the way. I promise you I will not write any more posts about Battlestar Galactica….especially if I’m wrong on my new prediction.
