Caprica to Premier on Syfy Channel

For those fans of BSG, there is hope. Caprica (if you missed the web series or don’t own it on DVD rent it or see), will premier on Friday, January 22 at 9 ET. It is effectively a prequel to BSG and there is alot to like about it. Both leads (antagonists) play a wonderful role, but that’s not where this will be successful. Caprica will give BSG fans new hope but it will also add to a potent Friday night lineup. For more information on Caprica, you can go to syfy.com and check on the official site’s link. It’s an effective way to get caught up, but the series looks to stay around for a long time. There is a lot to like about the new Friday evening lineup and Caprica will help bring a new look to the Syfy channel being put back-to-back with Stargate: Universe. January 22. Mark your calendars.
Stargate Universe: Best in Series?
I was fortunate enough to be able to watch the official pilot of Stargate Universe. nmnm If you were a fan of Atlantis or SG-1, you might have mixed feelings about Universe. However, the problem therein lies with where your tastes are in the scifi genre. SG-1 was very conservative with the violence and action bit, while Atlantis was getting a little edgier with the violence and action. In Universe, at least the pilot, viewers are treated to a more action-oriented approach as opposed to character development. The main characters are likable, but don’t have quite the wit and intuitiveness as their counterparts on Atlantis or SG-1. Universe seems more serious than their predecessors and there’s nothing wrong with that. No major cameos, and lots of references to the previous shows. I like this one more because of the more serious nature of their mission. I think it adds a little more to the credibility to the show. It’s definitely worth checking out. This one should be an instant hit. There is lots of story development early on, too, which helps the action pick up. It’s a must-see. Check out and let’s talk about it.
Two Stargate movies to air on SciFi Channel in back-to-back weeks
Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum will air on the SciFi Channel. Ark of Truth will air on Friday, March 27 at 9:00 ET, and Continuum will air on Friday, April 3 at 9:00 ET with a replay of Ark of Truth airing before. Both movies, having to do with the SG-1 series will tie up loose ends left behind during the duration of the show. While I will not spoil those for the viewers, I am confident that you will be pleased. Both movies will include referenes to past characters of SG-1 and Atlantis, but Atlantis will not be a vital factor in either movie. Look for both movies on Scifi Channel in the coming weeks.
Amanda Tapping provides Sanctuary on Friday nights
Sanctuary, Sci-Fi channel’s new show, has proven to be a hit. Amanda Tapping, best known as Samantha Carter on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis stars in this action-packed show that mixes Ghostbusters and gothic literature. The success of the show isn’t contingent on the star power of Amanda Tapping, but rather the fact that it mixes gothic culture with mythological lore and does it well disallowing the clichés that are involved with science fiction culture. Originality and a deeper plot following, combined with likeable and believable characters lend to the success of the show. This is what allowed Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica to become so popular and long-lasting. It has a mix of action, adventure, and not so much of your convoluted plot lines that involve extraneous circumstances involving the show’s antagonist and protagonist. Could this be a new wave of success for the Sci-Fi channel? The ratings for the show are extraordinary smashing previous records set by shows on the Sci-Fi channel. Look for Sanctuary to be a long lasting hit. Don’t take my word on it. Check it out on Fridays, 9:00 CT on the Sci-Fi Channel.
